Such is Fame

High Falls, Roc City

Sam Patch, an American daredevil known as “The Yankee Leaper” performed his last stunt off High Falls on Friday, November 13th, 1829.

When he hit the water he never surfaced.
People believed he hid in caves at the bottom of the falls.

It wasn’t until the next spring when they found his body in ice.

He is buried down river near where his body was discovered. His gravestone reads “Sam Patch – Such is Fame”
